Electronics Device Manufacturing
Widetronix, Inc.'s mission is to bring autonomous power and intelligence to the wireless world. The company is bringing to market an innovative class of battery, called betavoltaics, to enable self-powered wireless sensors. Betavoltaics generate power by collecting electrons from decaying isotopes using a proprietary silicon carbide semiconductor. This technology compliments energy harvesting and power storage technologies by providing a continuous current and voltage over a flexible operational lifetime of days to decades. The technology integrates with microprocessors for defense, industrial, infrastructure, and medical applications.
Widetronix's technology is based on key research conducted at Cornell. The company was founded by a Cornell College of Engineering faculty member and is managed by two Cornell alumni. The company's foundational technology is licensed from Cornell University.
